Kennedy’s Last Days by Bill O’Reilly

O'ReillyIn the book Kennedy’s Last Days, it talks about how John F. Kennedy gets assassinated.  But first, it starts from the beginning where he first got elected.  The book gives good details about Kennedy as well as his assassin, Lee Harvey Oswald.  The book talks about the good times Kennedy’s family had and the bad times they had.  It talks about the struggles and wars during Kennedy’s presidency.  The book also explains the background history of Lee Harvey Oswald.  It was also interesting to see that the book included a family tree and talks about a lot of the members.  This book has pictures that have captured stunning moments.  I like this book for the pictures and information and think you should read it.

Jonathan Maberry put a lot of effort into writing this book which shows.  If you want to kn ow if Benny and Tom survive, you must read this Bram Stoker Award winner.Submitted by JC

Falling Kingdoms by Morgan Rhodes

RhodesWhy?!  Why did this book have to end?  It was almost perfect, for which it deserves 5 stars.  The storyline, the plot, characters, mystery and myths were a perfect blend.  The only problem was that they gave us a whole bunch of characters in the very beginning, which was confusing and almost discouraged me.  But I kept reading and thank goodness I did.  It was amazing.
There are four main characters: Cleo, Jonas, Lucia and Magnus.  Cleo is a princess who has a rebellious nature and was at the scene of an accident that started a war.  Jonas is a peasant who wants revenge for his murdered brother.  Magnus is a prince willing to do wrong to please a father he hates.  And finally, Lucia is a princess that has powers her father will exploit for his ambitions.  The lives and destinies of these characters are woven together in an unforgettable journey.

There are no words good enough to describe this book.  It was amazing, outstanding, and definitely worth my time.  It has been awhile since I read anything this good (since Divergent).  I didn’t think it would be in a series but I am glad it is.  This book has so many twists, and a lot of irony that kept stunning me at every turn.  This book definitely deserves at least 4 stars.  I love that the book is portrayed in the point of view of four different people.  I loved reading all four perspectives.  As soon as I got over the shock of the ending, I immediately searched online for the second book.  I’m really excited.

The Midnight Dress by Karen Foxlee

FoxleeOverall, I would give this book 3 stars.  The reason for this is the plot and characters.  The overall story seemed unfinished, with most of the book concerning Edie and the making of the dress, with some useless characters such as Paul and Vanessa.  I might have given the book 4 stars, but these characters just got on my nerves, making the story gloomier than it already was by popping up here and there.  However, there were good points in the book such as Pearl’s search for her father, the history of the fabric that Edie is making the dress from, and of course the first sentence.
I’ve never read a book in which they tell you the ending in the beginning, so it hooked me in on the spot, and I had to finish the book.  Overall, for anyone who likes fantasy or tragedy this book is for you.

This book is about a girl named Rose.  She moves to a run-down town with her father.  She didn’t expect to like the town Leonora, or become friends with Pearl Kelly.  She thought it was better not to get attached to people and the town because whenever her father gets too settled, they move.  Yet Rose couldn’t resist.

Pearl convinces Rose to visit an old dressmaker named Edie Baker who makes her a dress for the festival.  Together, Edie and Rose hand-stitch a magnificent dress for Rose.  My favorite character is Pearl.  She is my favorite because she is so sweet and unique.  My favorite scene in the novel is when Edie Baker tells her family background.

I rate this book 9/10.  It was well written and I love the plot! I would definitely recommend this to my friends.

The Midnight Dress by Karen Foxlee, was pretty interesting.  Rose and her dad never settle in one place for long.  They’re always on the move.  When they arrive at the little town named Leonora, Rose thinks the routine will start all over again…. the routine of her becoming an outcast in her new school.  She was wrong, way wrong.  Pearl Kelly bought her out of the dark and they became the best of friends.  Even little old Edith Baker brought some light to her.  Throughout the making of the “midnight dress” for the Harvest Festival, Rose will never forget the love, loss, and friendship she has experienced at her stay in the small town named Leonora.  My favorite character would have to be Edie Baker, the dressmaker, because she always brought a smile to my face when she would tell stories about her life.  I would rate this book a 7 out of 10 because it was pretty hard to understand what was going on most of the time.  I would recommend this book to someone older than myself, because they might have a better understanding of the book than me.

Chasing Shadows by Swati Avasthi

Jacket Chasing Shadows is a book written by Swati Avasthi.  This book is installed with a truck load of mystery.  In this astonishing book, the main characters are Holly, Savriti, Corey and Kortha.  Holly, Corey and Savriti like pretending they’re superheroes.  This book definitely gets 5 stars because of it’s mystery and the amount of thought that was put into the book.
One day, Holly and Corey are driving through the alleyways in the city. Then, this man with a sweater pulled out a gun and tried to kill them both, but instead he fractured Holly’s arm and killed Corey.  Now Holly is looking to resurrect Corey and bring him back.  But a half man/half snake is not letting Holly get to Corey.  Will Holly get to Corey and bring him back or will his plan fail?  To find out, you must read this amazing book.

I would rate this book with 3 1/2 stars.  It’s inspirational and involves real life events.  Pain can really change you.  But, it could have been better if the ending was more clear and the book didn’t start out right away with the death of Corey.  The graphic designs were amazing.  This book tells you that real life doesn’t have superheroes.  We are all human.  This book is recommended to people who have a taste for tragic and inspiring books.
